About us

Social Justice League is a women led, not for profit Community Based Organization founded in Ndhiwa-Homabay County- Kenya

It was founded in 2022 by a group of young lawyers, SJL works with rural communities to promote Gender Democracy and Gender Equality advocating for the actualization and realization of fundamental human rights

We work with rural communities, county and national governments and other Non-Governmental organizations to address these challenges and leverage our partnerships to ensure positive and meaningful change.

Policy and Legislative Advocacy

SJL seeks to create lasting change by influencing decisions, practices, policies, and resource allocation within political, economic, and other social systems.

Economic Empowerment

SJL seeks to support income-generating activities and access to financial services to uplift the economic status of community members.

Community-Based Action

SJL designs programs that support a participatory approach towards community-based action.

4.
Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights

SJL designs community-based interventions for strengthening adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

5.
Research & Publications

SJL conducts research on thematic issues affecting rural communities and is directly linked to its objectives.

RUNNING CAMPAIGNS/ACTIVITIES

Young Women In Politics 50:50 Campaign

This campaign by the Social Justice League (SJL) aims to empower young women in Kenyan politics. Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office through IFA (Institut fur Auslandsbeziehungen)’s Zivik Funding Program, the project focuses on four counties: Homabay, Samburu, Kiambu, and Bomet.

SJL Pro Bono Legal Clinic in Homabay

The Social Justice League organized a Pro-bono legal aid clinic in Kwabwai Ward, Ndhiwa Sub-county- Homabay, where community members shared their legal challenges and received guidance from the team joined by Kitu Cha Sheria paralegals and lawyers from Clean Start Africa.
This is one of many legal aid clinics they hope to conduct in different wards in Homabay.
